Book Lust
Mark Macleod (our 2006 LIW James Bennett lecturer) participated in the ABC TV show Book Lust as a panelist. It was an interesting show and great to see a school librarian interviewed too.
Guess that librarians are a part of encouraging 'Book lust' .... could this be our 2007 Library and Information Week theme ??
Monday 22 May to Sunday 28 May
Library and Information Week
| This has always been a week to celebrate in my professional life! The National Office Staff have been busy stuffing envelopes full of the thousands of wristbands, bookmarks and posters being sent out to libraries. | |
|
One of the best jobs of the week for me was to advise the winners of the Maisy Party Competition Winners. A parent of a small Western Australian school (Waikiki) found our website and entered on behalf of her school library. She was very surprised to win! Congrats also to our public library winner from Port Stephens. I attended the Canberra Library Technicians Day breakfast. Thanks to Beth Clary for again organising a great get together! |

During the week we issued three media releases in conjunction with our sponsors - ABS and NetAlert - and I had a few radio and journalist interviews along the way. Thursday morning was a morning tea at the Australian Bureau of Statistics Library with Australian Statistician Dennis Trewin and the staff. Four ABS Library Directors were also in attendance. |
| And on Friday evening the James Bennett Lecture was conducted at the State Library of New South Wales in Sydney. Our Guest Speaker Mark Macleod gave an excellent speech and this will be up on our website soon. Thanks to Chris and the staff at James Bennett for supporting this initiative during Library and Information Week |
